Ctrip Adds LBS, Voice Search to Mobile Apps

36Kr, 11/26/12

Chinese online travel service provider Ctrip (Nasdaq: CTRP) recently released the latest version of its Android and iOS mobile clients, version 4.0, now featuring LBS and voice search functionality.

The LBS feature provides users with information on nearby merchants and scenic spots, including name, address, distance, and contact information, based on the user's current location. The voice search feature, powered by technology from voice recognition software firm Anhui USTC iFlytek (002230.SZ), allows users to call up hotel booking availability and locations as well as plane and high-speed rail ticket departure times and destinations. The new version allows search filtering based on payment methods, whether hotel rooms have Wi-Fi or parking, and lets users share search results via Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging, Tencent (0700.HK) WeChat mobile IM, or SMS.
