TechWeb, 12/12/12
Kingsoft Network Technology released an e-commerce edition of its Cheetah browser today adding a built-in price-comparison tool that surveys all major e-commerce sites and allows users to view the history of item prices.
Through partnerships with third-party platforms, the browser has access to a database containing more than 20 mln products and more than 70 mln comments, and has the ability to analyze products' strengths and weaknesses. Every month, the database will update more than 400 mln product price and inventory entries.
When users browse product listings on major e-commerce websites using the dedicated edition of the Cheetah browser, Cheetah will display the product's prices on Alibaba Group's B2C e-commerce site TMall, sister C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao, Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning's (002024.SZ) Suning.com B2C platform, and other sites, as well as a "price trends" graph showing historical fluctuations in the price of the item.
