DHGate, GS1 China Partner on Product Barcode Standardization
Sootoo, 12/10/12
Chinese B2B e-commerce firm DHGate has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ)'s GS1 China barcode management center. According to the agreement, GS1 China and DHGate will jointly work to expand GS1 China's global unified labeling system and national product barcode system, as well as promote "Made in China" global data standards and rapid implementation of global "product IDs," allowing overseas buyers to scan barcodes to obtain accurate product specifications and supplier information, simplifying the supply chain.
The two organizations have also partnered to develop a turnkey online store solution for China's manufacturing industry, providing a secure and standardized procurement information service and transaction platform for the convenience of overseas purchasers, which is expected to launch in early 2013.
