China Telecom Launches Mobile Video Center
Sohu IT, 11/12/09
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) recently set up its video operations center in Shanghai and began offering service to subscribers nationwide through its "E-Surfing Video" client product. Subscribers can receive live and on-demand television programming over mobile Internet through their televisions, computers, or mobile phones, and make use of such other "three screens" features as video favorites, video sharing, screen management, and "three screen communications."
The new video operations center provides unified management for China Telecom's IPTV, mobile TV, and Internet video services, and is responsible for service operations of the national centralized video platform and support for video service development in China Telecom's provincial companies. The new operations center will also seek to develop the video industry supply chain, and to partner with the Shanghai municipal government in creating a video industry in Shanghai.
The E-Surfing Video client is compatible with 11 EV-DO terminals and one CDMA 1X terminal. Under the video operations center's plans, support will be added for 52 EV-DO and CDMA 1X terminals by the end of January, allowing the majority of 3G users to enjoy high-definition, reliable video service.
