China to Change Telecom Pricing Policies
CCTime, 11/20/08
Chinese government sources have indicated that the government plans to change the pricing structure for local mobile telephone calls from a government-dictated system to a market-dictated system, and to set a government-guided upper limit for local fixed-line calling rates.
At present, Chinese telecommunications costs are either set by the government - as with fixed-line, monthly mobile subscription, and other basic telecom costs - guided by the government, as with long-distance calls and mobile roaming - or dictated by the market, as with IP telephony and value-added service costs.
