Rumor: China Telecom Applies for New CDMA Frequencies

An industry source has revealed that China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has submitted an application to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for the right to use new CDMA frequencies between 821-825 MHz (upstream) and 866-870 MHz (downstream). The frequencies used by existing CDMA networks are 825-835 MHz and 866-870 MHz.
