SARFT to Regulate Out-of-home Display Content
Marbridge Consulting, 12/12/07
The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) sent a notice on strengthening oversight of broadcasting media in public spaces such as public transport and buildings to local broadcasting authorities December 6. The document calls for local authorities to survey public area broadcasting and submit the findings by January 15.
The document also points out that: all video broadcasts over the broadcast network, Internet or other information networks in vehicles, buildings, airports, bus stations, shops, banks, hospitals and outdoors be approved by SARFT in accordance with broadcast TV and Internet video regulations. Without approval, news, soap operas, sports, science and technology and entertainment shows may not be shown. Also, broadcasts using changeable hardware - memory cards, DVDs, etc - must only be used for broadcasting advertisements, not news or other content. Any organization currently violating these stipulations is required to cease immediately.
