CMMB Wins RMB 400 mln in Government Support

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has announced on its website that the China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) project has been identified as a major recipient of science and technology funding for the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010). The first payment will be RMB 80 mln, with total funding to reach RMB 400 mln.

The funding will be distributed by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)'s Technology Department to domestic or domestically-controlled firms and research institutes. The funding will be used for research on five areas, covering CMMB technology, handsets and equipment, between 2008 and 2010.
