China Unicom Loses 860,000 Mobile Subs in November 2019

Telecom operator China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) has announced its subscriber totals for the month of November 2019, with a net loss of 0.86 mln mobile billing subscribers, dropping its total mobile billing user base to 321.26 mln. Of the total, 253.58 mln were 4G subscribers, with a net addition of 1.83 mln LTE subs during the month.
November marked the seventh consecutive month in which Unicom posted a net addition of fewer than 200,000 mobile subs, following net additions of just 57,000, 24,000, 109,000, 184,000, 83,000, and -2.61 mln in May, June, July, August, September, and October, respectively. In the first 11 months of 2019, the operator has added a net monthly average of just 0.57 mln new mobile subs, compared to a net monthly average of 2.62 mln during the same 11-month period of 2018.
China Unicom lost 0.01 mln fixed-line telephone subscribers in November, dropping its total to 54.22 mln.
The operator lost 0.10 mln fixed-line broadband subscribers (registered accounts) in November, reducing its total to 84.45 mln.
