Baidu Releases New AI Speaker, Smartphone Car Mount

Chinese internet conglomerate Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) introduced two new artificial intelligence-enabled devices today at its annual Baidu World event in Beijing, including the Xiaodu Smart Speaker Pro 2.0 and Xiaodu Voice Onboard Smartphone Holder.
The Xiaodu Smart Speaker Pro 2.0 features 6 microphones, endless conversation support, and far-field speech recognition with a wakeup rate touted to be 98%. The speaker is 90mm in diameter and 209mm tall, weighs approximately 645g, and runs on an ARM Cortex A53 quad-core processor. In terms of content, the Pro 2 has licensed Tencent's (0700.HK) full QQ Music library, and is embedded with a variety of age-specific educational content for children. The product can be connected to 85 brands of popular household devices, and retails for RMB 399 (and is currently available for a special promotional price of RMB 169).
The Xiaodu Smartphone Car Mount is a a smartphone charger with far-field microphones designed to resolve the common problem of being unable to wake the Xiaodu AI assistant in one's smartphone while driving due to in-car noise, and also allows the user to keep both hands free. After downloading the Xiaodu Bluetooth app, the user can cradle their phone in the Car Mount, and then use voice commands for map search, music listening, and other inquiries. The car mount which comes in green, red, or grey color options, also features wireless charging, so won't use up the phone's battery. The Car Mount retails for RMB 99, but is currently available for a special promotional price of RMB 49 in a bid to win heavy uptake from China's approximately 217 mln passenger car owners.
Baidu today also announced a special discount on one of its existing AI devices, the Xiaodu at Home smart video speaker. Created with LittleFish and first launched in March this year, the device is equipped with Baidu's DuerOS conversational AI system, a touchscreen, and massive content library. While normally priced at RMB 699, the product is currently available for RMB 299.
