Today's Headlines Launches Applet Function
Techweb, 9/18/18
Online and mobile news portal platform Today's Headlines, operated by Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, recently announced a new in-app applets function, following the release of applet functions by other platforms such as Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app, Alibaba's (NYSE: BABA) third-party payment platform Alipay, and search giant Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU).
Today's Headlines' new applets entry point currently supports only Android users and it is currently available only for some enterprise users. Applets can be located through keyword searches within the Today's Headlines platform. For example, users can search for "Maoyan Dianying" to locate an applet operated by Meituan's online and mobile movie ticket group by service Maoyan Dianying. Users can also transfer content from applet pages to Today's Headlines' short video distribution function Weitoutiao.
Today's Headlines said that the new applet function is intended to help provide richer and more valuable services for users with different requirements.
