Today's Headlines' Toutiaohao Beta Tests Paid Content Function

Online and mobile news portal platform Today's Headlines, operated by Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, has sent invitations to select authors on its Toutiaohao user-generated content platform to join closed beta testing of a soon-to-be-launched pay-to-read function. When asked for comment, a company representative confirmed these plans, but said the "Paid Column" is still in a beta stage.

As the function is still being internally tested, several surrounding details remain unknown, including how it will display, whether it will be available to all Toutiaohao authors, and whether authors will earn commissions on paid-content revenues. According to media sources, Today's Headlines authors will be able to choose to create a free or paid column directly from an option setting in the Create Column page.
