Bytedance Launches AR Effects Platform 'Byted Effect'
Jiemian, 6/25/18
Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, operator of online and mobile news portal platform Today's Headlines, recently launched an augmented reality special effects platform called Byted Effect. The platform is free for enterprise users and provides support for developing AR special effects for mobile apps.
Byted Effect was developed internally by the image algorithms engineering team at Bytedance Technology's AI Lab. The platform offers modules for face detection, beautification, and image filters.
The face detection module uses 106-point high-precision positioning to accurately detect face outlines and features. It can detect facial gestures such as closing eyes, nods, and eyebrow movements and can recognize individual faces. An age-recognition function is expected to launch in the future. The beautification module includes mainstream beauty features such as skin-whitening and face-lifting functions. Developers can incorporate module services into their mobile phone or app projects to add beauty enhancement functions for video streams and images.
Developers can also contribute to the platform based on their own development requirements. New modules will be added to Byted Effect in the future, such as human body detection and real-time hair-coloring functions which will be released later this year for application in breakdancing videos on Bytedance Technology's music-video-sharing app Douyin.
