Tencent Tests Delivery Robot

Sina Tech, 6/11/18

Chinese internet conglomerate Tencent (0700.HK) has launched an applet for "WePost," an express delivery/logistics service.

WePost was developed by Tencent's robotics team in its autonomous driving lab in August 2016. The service is still in closed beta testing, and currently only Tencent's own employees can open the WePost applet.

WePost will use robots for deliveries within office towers. Relying on the accumulated data and algorithms in the fields of AI, cloud computing, and IoT as well as the rich application environments of Tencent's greater ecosystem, WePost will use critical technology, such as mobile robot SLAM, perception, planning, control, and cloud platforms to provide smart mobile services, such as smart routing, real-time positioning, multimodal interaction, and scenario interconnectivity.
