Today's Headlines Eyes Opportunities in Chip Sector

Yang Zhengyuan, a vice president at Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, operator of online and mobile news portal platform Today's Headlines, recently told online media outlet 36Kr.com that the company will explore business opportunities in the chip domain, following new import restrictions imposed by the US Commerce Department on Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE Corporation (0763.HK; 000063.SZ).

Yang said that Bytedance Technology has the world's largest number of user-uploaded videos that require analysis and processing, and that it purchases and uses a large number of processing chips. Yang said that the company is actively seeking breakthroughs in chip-related technologies.
