Today's Headlines Sues Baidu Search for Unfair Competition
Sina Tech, 1/30/18
Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, operator of online and mobile news portal Today's Headlines, issued a statement today announcing the filing of a lawsuit for unfair competition against Chinese internet conglomerate Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU). The Beijing Haidian District People's Court is processing the case.
When searching for "Today's Headlines" on search engine Baidu.com, the first result is an article published in mid-December 2017 by irregular sources (i.e. Baidu's independent media platform Baijiahao) about Today's Headlines being ordered to rectify. The second search result is a link to Today's Headlines' official website, but Baidu.com adds red text: "Warning: This page may be unavailable due to unstable service." Clicking on the link brings up Today's Headlines as normal.
Using recognized third-party online websites and Baidu's own website monitoring system for a safety check show that Today's Headlines' website has no security or stability problems, claims Today's Headlines.
