Tencent Wins Mainland China Rights to TPS 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds'

Chinese online game developer and operator Tencent (0700.HK) announced today that it has won the mainland China operating rights to client-based third-person shooter game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds from Korean game developer Bluehole.

Editor's Note: In late September, Chinese news media reported that Tencent had taken an equity stake of less than 5% in Bluehole (see Rumor: Tencent Acquires 5% Stake in Korean Game Developer Bluehole, MD 9/28/17 issue), and in late October rumors began to surface that Tencent had won the mainland China operating rights for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (see Rumor: Tencent Wins Mainland China Rights to TPS 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds', MD 10/20/17 issue)
