WeChat Launches Mobile Medical Insurance Payment System in Zhejiang
Vcbeat.net, 8/08/17
Jiaxing Second Hospital recently began accepting payments through a WeChat mobile medical insurance payments system developed by Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) and Hangzhou-based mobile healthcare solutions provider Zhuojian Information Technology. Jiaxing Second Hospital is the first hospital in Zhejiang province to adopt the system.
Patients can access the service through the Jiaxing Second Hospital public account on WeChat or by using the city services function within the app's WeChat Wallet function to link their local ID card. In addition, users who use WeChat's medical insurance payments function to pay appointment booking fees will receive reminders about their appointment time through WeChat, and can bypass queues and proceed directly to their designated examination room when completing their hospital visit.
After their doctor's appointment, the user's pharmaceuticals bill will also be sent to their WeChat account where they can simply review billed items and pay the bill. Medical insurance and co-pay portions of the bill will both be paid automatically, and patients will be able to pick up their medicine directly.
