Mobike Promotion Offers Free Rides Sans Deposit to New Users

Beijing-based dockless shared bicycle service operator Mobike Technology has launched a promotion for new users to try the service without paying a deposit. The promotion, which covers users in more than 150 cities across China, requires new users to register an account through Mobike's applet in Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app to receive five free rides per week with no deposit. Users who pay a deposit can receive a month of free rides.
The deposit-free trial riding promotion is only for new users, and is limited to those signing up within the WeChat applet, as opposed to Mobike's mobile app or official account on WeChat.
Mobike has placed more than 6 mln shared bikes in nearly 160 cities in China and overseas. The company has 100 mln registered users and completes more than 25 mln rides per day.
Editor's Note: In a telephone interview with Marbridge, a Mobike customer service representative said that this promotion currently has not expiration date, and that new users who have registered through the Mobike applet would be allowed five free rides per week without paying a deposit for the foreseeable future.
