Ctrip App to Integrate Baidu's Image Translation Technology

Chinese online travel service provider Ctrip (Nasdaq: CTRP) and Internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) have partnered to upgrade the translation assistant feature within the Ctrip app. Using Baidu's optical character recognition (OCR) technology, the Ctrip app will soon have image translation functionality.

A Ctrip representative said that by integrating Baidu's OCR technology, users will be able to take a picture of a menu while abroad and have it translated from English into Chinese, all within the Ctrip app.

Baidu OCR is equipped with whole text detection and identification, whole text line positioning, and word image recognition, among other features.

In addition, Ctrip's translation assistant supports photo translation in English, Korean, Thai, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, and Chinese.
