Cainiao Launches Biodegradable Delivery Boxes in Shanghai and Nanjing

Cainiao Network Technology, the smart logistics company established by Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA), recently said that its green logistics initiative and its mobile logistics service app Guoguo will partner with express delivery companies including Best Logistics, Tian Tian Express, Rufengda Express, and Dianwoda to launch a green delivery program. Starting August 1, Shanghai and Nanjing users who send packages using Guoguo will be able to select an option to use biodegradable, environmentally friendly packaging for their order.
In Shanghai, 3,500 Dianwoda couriers will participate in the program and Best Logistics will outfit 100 service stations with environmentally friendly delivery packaging materials. In Nanjing, Tian Tian Express has given the packaging to 3,000 of its delivery staff, which will be offered to consumers.
Starting June 2016, Cainiao launched a "green initiative" together with 32 logistics companies throughout the world, and helped to establish a global logistics environmental protection fund and green products alliance.
Cainiao said that it has already recycled more than 100,000 articles of cardboard packaging under the green initiative program.
