Beijing-based hyper-converged infrastructure solutions provider Zhiling Haina Technology (SmartX) recently announced completion of RMB 100 mln in Series B funding led by Matrix Partners with participation by angel-round and Series A investors F&G Venture, Banyan Capital, and Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group.
Xu Wenhao, founder and CEO of SmartX, said that funds will mainly be used to establish a research center in North America and an innovative technologies laboratory. SmartX will also increase brand and marketing investment to develop its distribution channel and service network.
SmartX uses "software-defined" technologies to create networked IT data centers based on generic X86 servers.
At the product level, SmartX licenses its software so that it can be used with users' own hardware. SmartX also offers integrated hardware-software systems as turn-key solutions. Xu Wenhao said that SmartX's core product is SmartX Halo, which provides distributed, modular storage, data protection, and network management IT services as the "software core" of hyper-converged platforms.
