WeChat to Remove Limits on Number of Applets per Account

Mydrivers.com, 5/27/17

Chinese mobile and internet services firm Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app recently announced a new update to its applets function, which eliminates restrictions on the number of applets per account, upgrades template messages, and optimizes data analysis functions.

1. To increase usage scenario flexibility, WeChat will no longer limit the number of applets that may be linked to a public account. For example, businesses can create a unique applet for each promotional material that they release, which will make it easier to track the results of each promotion.

2. The product purchasing WeChat template, which merchants can use to sell products to users, has added new features, such as supporting the send-out of three template messages within seven days to notify users regarding changes to their order or shipping status, in order to improve after-sales service quality.

3. WeChat will now support queries to look up information about an applet's new and active users, including users' gender, age, location, and device used. Developers can log into the Applet Data Assistant to check and analyze related data. The Applet Data Assistant also adds a new sharing function, to make it easier to share data.

Editor's Note: Previously, WeChat public accounts were allowed to link a maximum of 13 applets.
