Alipay Expands Array of Integrated Healthcare Management Services

Chinese third-party payment platform Alipay recently announced that it will launch a one-stop medical services platform for users. In addition to the appointment-booking and services that Alipay already offers, users will be able to use the platform to receive 15 types of healthcare management services including healthcare consultation and information, maternity services, and healthcare financing.
Alipay operator Ant Financial, the financial services affiliate of Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA), said that the platform's medical services content will be provided by more than 1,500 public hospitals and 15 medical and healthcare companies. Its appointment-booking services will be provided by 1,500 public hospitals and major appointment platforms already connected to Alipay. Doctor's consultation services will be provided by healthcare platforms including Alibaba Health Information Technology (0241.HK), WeDoctor, Hao Daifu Online, and Mami Zhidao. Smart pre-diagnosis services are developed by third-party health management service provider Vaurise Health Solutions International Group. Organ donation services will be managed by China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation.
Alipay's medicine and healthcare services and content will all be provided by partnering business and medical institutions. Ant Financial will make payment, security, data and credit, financing, and counter-theft services and technologies available to its medical ecosystem partners. In addition, during the second stage of its medical services platform, it will add activity and health services such as pedometer statistics as well as popular science and live video content from experts and medical institutions.
So far, more than 1,500 public hospitals have joined Alipay's "Future Hospital" program, and Alipay's hospital appointment-booking services are available for nearly all hospitals throughout China.
