Youxin Unveils VR Version of Interactive Voice Broadcasting App
Sootoo, 12/13/16
Shenzhen-based Youxin Network Technology, operator of mobile instant messaging app Uxin, recently held a press demo for its Hongdou virtual reality social networking app in Beijing. Youxin product manager Chen Qiuxuan said that the app is currently still being tested, and the prototype is a VR version of Youxin's mobile interactive voice broadcasting app Hongdou Live.
The VR version of the app allows the broadcaster to present in a setting of their own choice, such as a performance hall or outer space. Broadcasters will not actually be rendered in VR, but will instead be represented by a digital avatar. VR audience members will also be displayed as avatars, so that a more personal environment is created without actually showing physical appearance.
Hongdou VR is capable of sustaining 200,000 surfaces with frame rates of 60 frames per second. Menu text is designed to appear 2m in front of the user's avatar for optimal reading clarity. Within the virtual environment, users can see themselves by looking down, and Hongdou VR supports 3D surround sound. Youxin also plans to add facial recognition and motion capture to the VR environment.
