Alibaba Releases Mobile VR Online Shopping Experience 'Buy+'
Leiphone, 11/01/16
Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group's (NYSE: BABA) C2C e-commerce site Taobao recently launched a new virtual reality (VR) online shopping experience called Buy+ in its mobile app.
The Buy+ channel offers products from foreign brands, such as milk powder and cosmetics, through an interface that generally simulates a supermarket or shopping mall experience. The channel offers both panoramic image and VR shopping modes. When using panoramic mode, users can use a set of arrows to move around a street, select to enter a store, and subsequently view products offered within a store. Users can gather their selected products into their shopping cart and then return to the normal Taobao interface to complete their purchase.
To access VR mode, users must have a VR headset, and can simply focus their vision on a product to confirm their selection, and then purchase it directly by focusing on a certain area for a designated amount of time.
