Ali Health, Healthcare Device Makers Launch Smart Healthcare Program
Iyiou, 10/20/16
Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group's (NYSE: BABA) healthcare subsidiary Alibaba Health Information Technology (0241.HK) recently announced a new smart healthcare program in partnership with nearly 20 Chinese medical device makers including Sinocare (300298.SZ), Haier Medical Technology, Kangsheng Health Management Consulting, Yuyue Medical Equipment and Supply (002223.SZ), Bayer Healthcare, and Omron. The program will use mobile Internet, big data, and smart healthcare devices to upload consumers' health monitoring data to an online platform using GPRS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Data will be used to automatically generate healthcare trend reports and to support healthcare management services.
AliHealth will offer consumers a personal healthcare records management platform through the program and will use its backend medicine and healthcare management services to provide recommendations to users about their health situation, with the goal of improving users' healthcare management capabilities.
When consumers use smart devices from AliHealth's partnering device developers, such as blood glucose, blood pressure, and thermometer devices, they can upload their data to the AliHealth app to generate healthcare reports and charts. In addition to consumers themselves, family members and nursing staff can also connect to follow changes in health metrics such as blood sugar and blood pressure, enabling them to take action if needed. AliHealth will also offer consumers other healthcare management services, and partnering nutritionists and doctors can operate through the platform to offer remote healthcare advising services online or by phone.
