Beijing-based Calorie Technology, operator of mobile healthcare and fitness app Keep, confirmed today that it has completed an unspecified amount of Series C+ strategic funding from Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK).
The Keep mobile app offers users healthcare and fitness video tutorials, and users can also post messages to share their fitness experiences with other users. Keep also operates a B2C e-commerce channel that sells sports equipment products.
Calorie Technology, established in September 2014, previously completed USD 32 mln Series C funding in May 2016. Wang Ning, CEO of Calorie, said that the main purpose of completing additional Series C+ funding is to ensure adequate investment in content, brand, and product improvements to enhance the user experience. Wang added that in addition to Tencent's funding support, Keep will also rely on Tencent for resource and product support. Since the Keep platform launched in February 2015 it has accumulated more than 50 mln users, including nearly 20 mln daily active users.
