NetEase's Kaola Launches Cross-border Logistics Cloud System
Ebrun, 8/11/16
Kaola.com, the cross-border e-commerce platform operated by Chinese internet company NetEase (Nasdaq: NTES), recently launched a new cross-border logistics cloud platform called "Netease Kaola Logistics Cloud." The project brings together numerous cross-border storage and logistics enterprises to create a logistics system aimed at increasing efficiency for international e-commerce orders.
Kaola has partnered with Shanghai-based enterprise resources planning (ERP) and logistics supply chain solutions provider QuantumAsia Software Technology and Hangzhou-based cross-border e-commerce supply chain service provider High Store Technology to develop Netease Kaola Logistics Cloud, which includes a smart management system called "Xianglong" and a cloud transportation management system (TMS) "Ruilin."
Yang Haiming, logistics director at Kaola, said that the two systems allow Kaola to deliver bonded goods to most locations throughout China within three days (within five days for remote locations), and that it is already providing next-day delivery service for Zhejiang and Shanghai deliveries.
The storage management system Xianglong is responsible for all product storage-related information and automatically manages product dispatch schedules. Kaola has already set up services for bonded goods at port facilities in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Zhengzhou, and Chongqing, and it plans to expand these operations to Shenzhen and Tianjin before the end of 2016.
The cloud TMS system Ruilin is responsible for linking with outside logistics partners and making real-time package tracking information available throughout the Netease Kaola Logistics Cloud network. Kaola's logistics partners currently include cross-border logistics and storage companies including Amazon China, S.F. Express, EMS, ZTO Express, Worldwide Express, and High Store Technology.
