Sohu IT, 7/08/16
Chinese internet firm Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) online video subsidiary iQiyi has announced the launch of "Qi Xiu," an online and mobile interactive video entertainment platform. The website and iOS and Android apps for Qi Xiu are already live.
iQiyi said that it would be using Qi Xiu to connect the creators and stars of the platform's most popular content with their fans and audience. Qi Xiu will also work towards finding and promoting new talent through its "Xingtu Qihang" (literally "Set Sail to the Stars") initiative.
Xu Weifeng, iQiyi's co-president, said that Qi Xiu would be looking to identify exceptional broadcasters among the platform's users and then give them the chance to sign up with talent agencies and receive specialist training to help them become famous broadcasters or even contracted artists. The first batch of broadcasters to be signed up would also become spokespeople for Mingxing Zhiyuan, a mobile game released by iQiyi. In addition to its broadcasting capabilities, iQiyi said that Qi Xiu would also be offering VR experiences to its users in the future.
