Shanghai-based Microphone Culture Media, operator of online and mobile radio platform Qingting FM (Dragonfly FM), recently announced completion of Series D funding led by China Culture Industrial Investment Fund. Qingting FM said that funds will mainly be used to hire staff and develop algorithms for personalized content recommendations.
With respect to personalized content recommendations, Qingting FM vice president Guo Jia said that the company plans to launch an all-new version of its platform this year, which will consider users' customized settings and their listening history to offer personalized interfaces and stations. This would help users find niche segments and broadcasters that suit their interests. Qingting FM currently features more than 3,000 Chinese broadcast stations and offers content including music, news, and stories. As of October 2015, more than 12,000 individual broadcasting hosts had been added to the platform. Guo Jia said that Qingting FM may IPO in late 2016 or 2017.
Microphone Culture Media, established in September 2011, completed USD 8-digit Series C funding in April 2015.
