Sina Invests USD 8-digits in Online Travel Site Bang.travel

Beijing-based online travel website Bang.travel (previously known as Shijiebang), operated by Shijiebang Information Technology, recently announced that it has received USD 8-digit Series B+ funding from Chinese Internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA).
Bang.travel focuses on overseas travel and allows users to submit their travel requirements via the Bang.travel website, mobile app, or public account on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app. Bang.travel also offers custom travel products and other value-added services, including visa assistance, hotel booking, travel insurance, and overseas shopping card services. Another Bang.travel service allows users to submit travel-related questions to Bang.travel experts. Users can also apply to become Bang.travel experts, where they can answer other users' questions and share articles and pictures of their travel experiences.
According to Bang.travel data, the platform currently has over 2,000 registered travel experts, more than 14 mln active users, and over 5 mln active mobile users.
According to previous reports, Bang.travel entered into a partnership with Sina's subsidiary microblogging platform Weibo (Nasdaq: WB) in August of this year, allowing users on the Bang.travel platform to share travel experience and travel information resources to followers of their Weibo accounts. In December 2014, Bang.travel received USD 8-digit Series B funding from Sina.
