Tencent Opens WeChat Moments to General Advertisers
Marbridge Consulting, 8/21/15
Yesterday, Chinese Internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) opened an official website (http://ad.weixin.qq.com/) detailing how to advertise on WeChat Moments, the WeChat mobile messaging app's user feed. Advertisers who wish to run an in-feed ad on WeChat Moments can use the new website to contact a sales representative. Running an ad currently requires a minimum investment of RMB 200,000.
To run an advertisement, one must first apply to become an advertiser and submit a copy of the proposed ad, which must be approved.
During the advertising period, the advertiser may monitor data regarding an ad in real time, such as the ad's daily views and total related fees deducted from the advertiser's account balance.
After the advertising period, the advertiser will receive a report within three days, containing information such as the total number of clicks on the ad and a breakdown of the gender, location, and operating system (iOS or Android) of users viewing the ad.
