Beijing-based Android application development firm Apus Group has announced it has landed USD 100 mln in Series B funding. Chengwei Ventures, SIG Ventures, and Qiming Venture Partners were the primary investors, with additional funding from Series A investors Northern Light Venture Capital and Redpoint Ventures.
Apus, founded by Li Tao, former vice president at Chinese internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU), received USD 7-digit Series A funding in June 2014. According to company statistics, Apus reached a user base of 1 mln in its first week, and 90 mln within 6 months of launch. Monthly active users number more than 70 mln.
The primary user market for Apus is overseas emerging markets. Products include Apus desktop and Apus mobile search.
Editor's Note: Apus's products include Apus Launcher, Apus Booster, Apus Mobile Search, Apus App Radar, Apus Notification and Apus Tools. Apus launched its first product, the Apus Launcher, on July 2, and within six months of its release, it had accumulated 90 mln users with 70 mln MAU. This new round of financing brings the company's total funds raised to USD 116 mln. Apus, to enhance user experience, ensures that all of its products together only take up 1M to 2M of space, allowing smartphones to run more smoothly on the Apus Launcher as it conserves both battery and RAM.
