Smart Photo Frame Maker Songshu Hulian Wins Series A Funding

Beijing-based smart home appliance maker Songshu Hulian Technology (Songshuyun) recently revealed that it landed USD 10 mln Series A funding from BlueRun Ventures in July 2014. The company has also announced the upcoming release of its smart photo frame, to be released on December 8 for RMB 799 on Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD).
The Songshu ("Squirrel") smart frame is designed to allow senior citizens to stay connected to their grown children. The device comes equipped with a 9.7-inch screen and a built-in 3G SIM card that uses telecom operator networks to instantly receive photos sent by the user's children. Built-in sensors allow the photo frame to automatically start a slideshow when anyone approaches it.
