Tencent Tech, 11/21/14
Beijing-based SaaS provider OpenTrans Internet Technologies has landed USD 6 mln Series A funding led by Matrix Partners China, with participation from Shanghai Buttonwood Capital Management and Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU). Mirek Dabrowski, founder of OpenTrans, has stated that the funding, which was officially completed at the end of October, will be used for marketing and new product development, including upgrades to the company's data security and stability.
OpenTrans primarily operates oTMS, a mobile software system for managing long-haul trucking logistics. The oTMS platform connects cargo owners, shippers, drivers and receivers, and provides functionality for placing orders, checking prices and inviting bids. Through the oTMS mobile app, the company can provide real-time shipping updates for logistics personnel and other industry players. In 2014, the number of shipping orders processed through oTMS reached 3.1 mln, and over 80 logistics and cargo companies use the product at present.
oTMS may form a technology partnership with Baidu Maps in the future, according to the company.
