Chinese SNS App 'Girlfriends' Wins USD 10 Mln Series B

Shenzhen Vanchu Technology, developer of Chinese SNS app GirlFriends ("Gui Mi Quan"), recently landed USD 10 mln Series B funding from Shunwei Investment and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Lightspeed previously participated in GirlFriends' first round of funding.
Girlfriends is a mobile SNS app designed for women to chat, meet friends with common interests and set up discussion groups. The app also includes a number of tools for beauty tips, shopping and more.
According to CEO Zhang Wei, Girlfriends has accumulated over 8 mln users. Average length of interaction among daily active users is 50 minutes, and active users open the app seven times a day on average.
Vanchu Technology has a team of over 40 employees, many of whom were previous employees at internet and mobile services company Tencent (0700.HK), including a former manager of the group chat feature for Tencent's QQ messaging platform.
