Tencent Launches Premium Push Notification Service
Tencent Tech, 7/23/14
Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) has launched a "Pro" version of its "XG Push" mobile app push notification management platform. The upgraded platform allows developers to track and manage the effectiveness of push notifications, helping developers to label app users as "prone to deleting the app" or as "prone to spending money on the app," and send targeted push messages based on these classifications. Developers only need to fill out an application and receive approval from Tencent before receiving free access to "XG Push Pro."
According to a company spokesperson, Tencent-operated mobile dancing game Quanmin Xuanwu is the first app to utilize the new pro version of "XG Push". The platform's accuracy in identifying users prone to deleting the app is above 80%. Currently, most of Tencent's in-house products use XG Push, covering hundreds of millions of app users. Since its release in March of this year, more than 10,000 apps have signed up for the XG Push service.
