Zhang Rongyao, chairman of Beijing-based laundry franchise Rongchain, has announced that the company's mobile laundry service app, eDaixi, has landed RMB 20 mln in angel funding from Chinese internet firm Tencent (0700.HK). The funding values eDaixi at around RMB 200 mln. Rongchain's eDaixin O2O mobile laundry service app was first released in November 2013.
eDaixi offers "RMB 99 per bag" and per item rates for washing clothes, and also provides other cleaning services. Customers following the service's official account on Tencent's WeChat mobile messaging app can also place pickup and delivery orders through WeChat. Mobile apps for the service are available for Android and iOS users.
eDaixi has launched in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, and processes around 1,000 orders each day, although the company aims to reach 10,000 daily orders by the end of this year. Following this round of funding, eDaixi will hire almost 10,000 delivery staff across each region of operation, allowing it to guarantee customers that clothes will be collected within 48 minutes of completing an order. The company plans to use the funding to develop more mobile services and expand into other cities.
