Following recent initiatives launched by China's State Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) to regulate China's internet TV integrated broadcast and control platforms, Mangguo TV (Mango TV), the online video platform of Hunan Broadcasting System and Hunan Satellite TV, has sent a letter to its cooperative partners (both platform operators and device manufacturers) with the following requests, to be completed by July 19:
1. Remove any internet TV time-delay and replay services;
2. Remove any foreign movies, television shows, or internet dramas that have not been approved by domestic broadcasting authorities;
3. Remove all non-internet TV license holder audio and video apps that come pre-installed or are downloadable on internet TV devices;
4. Remove audio and video aggregation apps that come pre-installed or are downloadable on internet TV devices.
Mango TV also announced that the company will expand its partnerships with licensed internet TV content providers, and introduce license-holder apps on partner-developed devices. The company will review the progress of the third and fourth requests mentioned above on July 20, and report its findings to SAPPRFT.
