YY Releases Mobile SNS App 'Hello'
TechWeb, 6/26/14
Huanju Shidai Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese voice-chat SNS platform operator YY Inc (Nasdaq: YY), recently released "Hello," a voice-chat based mobile SNS app. Through the app, users can engage in voice and video chats with complete strangers. App users can spend "Gold Coins" and "Diamonds" to purchase virtual items that can be sent to other users during conversations. Hello users obtain Gold Coins by logging into the app daily, engaging in voice conversations, and recommending the app to friends on other SNS platforms. Virtual items can be purchased using bank cards and Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay.
Hello ranks users based on the value of virtual items they receive and send, with users that are ranked in the top 100 featured prominently on the app.
The Android version of Hello is currently available in the Xiaomi and 91 Wireless app stores. The iOS version of the app will be released in July.
