QVOD Value-added Telecom Service License Revoked
DoNews, 5/15/14
China's National Anti-Pornography and Anti-Piracy Office (NAPAPO) announced yesterday that the Shenzhen-based offices of online media player developer and operator QVOD are currently under investigation for propagating online pornographic content. NAPAPO has also revoked QVOD's value-added telecom services operating license.
Law enforcement officials confiscated a number of QVOD servers in 2013, later confirming the existence of thousands of pornographic videos on multiple servers. A Public Security Bureau investigation has been launched into the actions of QVOD staff, with multiple individuals already arrested as suspects for their involvement in the dissemination of pornography. The case is ongoing.
