Suning to Exhibit Google Glass across China
Sina Tech, 4/24/14
Chinese consumer electronics and home appliance retailer Suning (002024.SZ) will exhibit Google Glass at major retail outlets located in 10 Chinese cities in the near future, allowing customers to try on the glasses but not purchase them, according to Suning's marketing department.
Google's wearable Google Glass product was first released in early 2013. In addition to a camera for taking photos and engaging in video chats, the product also features apps for mapping, web browsing, text editing, and email services. Users can control Google Glass either with voice commands or with a control button located on the side of the device. At present there is no official sales channel for Google Glass in China.
The initial batch of Google Glass devices purchased by Suning has already passed customs inspection, and will gradually be distributed to select Suning retail outlets in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chongqing, Chengdu, and Xi'an for exhibition in on-site "wearable device experience centers."
