The increase in Xiaomi's expected sales volumes in 2014 and 2015 is good news for Japanese component makers, who supply many of the key technologies used in Xiaomi's handsets. Xiaomi's Mi3, for example, uses Sony's CMOS image sensor for the camera, Sharp's IPS liquid crystal panels for the display, a variety of connectors from Hirose Electric and Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, and filters and other parts from Murata Manufacturing and Taiyo Yuden.
