Talkweb to Operate Angry Birds, Bad Piggies in China

Chinese telecom software developer and wireless value-added services (WVAS) provider Talkweb Information System (002261.SZ) announced today that the company has reached an agreement with Finnish mobile game developer Rovio to acquire the mainland China operating rights for the Android simplified Chinese versions of mobile casual games Angry Birds and Bad Piggies. Talkweb-operated versions of the games are slated for release in January 2014. Talkweb will receive 20% to 25% of revenues from the games. The games will be released on the mobile app download platforms of China's three major telecom operators and Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU), Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) and its subsidiary 91 Wireless, UCWeb, and Tencent (0700.HK).
At the end of October, Talkweb obtained the operating rights for the Android version of mobile casual game Draw a Stickman EPIC in China from US-based web design and mobile app developer Hitcents. The game is expected to be released in January 2014 as well.
Editor's Note: On December 3, Talkweb announced that the company plans invest HKD 80 mln of company funds to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong subsidiary will wholly own a Talkweb subsidiary that will soon be established in Korea.
