China Releases RFID 800/900MHz National Standard
China Securities Journal, 11/08/13
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued China's first state-approved national RFID standard. The standard was jointly drafted by the MIIT's China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) and key RFID industry players. The standard governs the design, production, testing and usage of RFID readers and associated tags, allocating the 840MHz - 845MHz and 920MHz - 925MHz spectrums to RFID usage.
According to CESI deputy chief engineer Wang Lijian, "air interface protocol" technology is at the core of China's RFID standard, and the introduction of standards will help accelerate the construction of Internet of Things (IoT) services in China. At present, more than 600 patents pertaining to RFID devices operating in the 800/900MHz spectrum have been filed globally. The new MIIT standard includes 30 patented Chinese self-developed technologies.
Publicly listed Chinese RFID players include Invengo Information Technology (002161.SZ) and Fujian Newland Computer (000997.SZ).
