ECode Licenses Mobile Game Adaption Rights from Shanda Cloudary

On November 5, Beijing-based mobile and browser game developer ECode Network Technology announced at a press conference that the company has obtained the mobile game adaptation rights for online novel Maoshan Houyi. The game will be developed using the Unity 3D engine, and is expected to be released in May or June of 2014. A browser-based version of the game is also being planned. Maoshan Houyi was written by "Dali Jingang Zhang," a contracted author of online literature site Qidian, a subsidiary of Shanda Interactive's online literature arm Shanda Cloudary. More than 1 mln physical copies of the book have been sold.
Ji Weiguang, VP of ECode, disclosed that the company purchased the mobile game adaption rights for Maoshan Houyi for a RMB 7-digit consideration, and that the company plans to obtain the browser game rights for the work, as well as the rights for Dali Jingang Zhang's sister work Qing Wei Yu Xie Lu.
Additionally, ECode will release two other mobile gaming products. The first product, code named X, is a Three Kingdoms-themed mobile RPG game that will enter the initial beta testing stage this December. The second product, code named M, is a Journey to the West-themed mobile card game that will enter the initial beta testing stage in January 2014. Browser game versions of both games will be released at the same time.
