Rumor: Sogou to Launch Inference Search Engine
ChinaByte.com, 10/09/13
According to an industry insider, Chinese internet firm Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) online search subsidiary Sogou partnered with Peking University's Computer Science Department in September to develop a knowledge-based inference search engine. The search engine in development, named "Tuili Yinqing," is based on Sogou's existing "Zhi Li Fang" knowledge-based engine, and compiles semantic constructions to optimize search results. For example, the new engine can provide results for queries such as: "When did China's automobile production exceed that of the US?" or "In matches between Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, who received the most yellow cards?" or even, "Which foods, when eaten together, cause an upset stomach?"
