Tencent Tests Mobile Site Set-Up Tool for WeChat
iFeng Tech, 7/26/13
Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent's (0700.HK) mobile website set-up tool "Feng Ling" (fl.qq.com) has begun closed-beta testing of new WeChat-integrated functionality. Feng Ling allows users to quickly create HTML5 and WAP mobile websites, and upon WeChat public account integration, will allow for creation of WeChat automated messages (AI-Message), customized menus (Smart-Menu), and location-based services (Find-Me). Feng Ling also provides 16 feature modules for site developers, including prize drawings, comments, registration, surveys, membership, and discounts.
Feng Ling's official website displays samples of WeChat public accounts created using the tool. For example, the Vanke Real Estate WeChat public accounts page shows real estate listings, apartment blueprints, building descriptions, price search, and other information. Meanwhile, the Dong Feng Motors public accounts page allows users to sign up for test drives via WeChat, look up the nearest Dong Feng service center, and look at 360-degree views of Dong Feng cars. Tencent charges companies an annual service fee of RMB 50,000 to use Feng Ling, according to industry sources.
The upcoming version 5.0 of WeChat will separate public accounts into subscription accounts and service accounts, of which service accounts can only broadcast one message per month to subscribers.
