AppChina Achieves Profitability
Sina Tech, 7/10/13
Yuan Cong, CEO of Zhanghui Tianxia Technology, has stated in an interview that the company's Android app store AppChina has achieved profitability, with approximately 50% of revenues attributed to joint operation of mobile games.
According to Yuan, AppChina has experimented with various revenue models, including software distribution, advertising software development kits (SDKs), paid e-books, preinstalling the app store on new handsets, and joint operation of app stores for major handset makers. In early 2012, AppChina received considerable income from promoting brand-name apps on its app platform, but the related extra server and bandwidth costs kept the company in the red. In mid-2012, AppChina partnered with various third-party payment processors to develop an e-payment SDK product, and initiated joint operation of mobile games.
AppChina received first-round funding in early 2012.
